Laid as a hot liquid, tarmacadam is a dark, bituminous material which is poured and then subsequently levelled and compacted in order to form the right gradient for your driveway.

Following installation the macadam needs to be left to cool for a few hours and it is during this time that the particles actually bind to form a solid, hard-wearing surface.

Drainage may not be adequate to take the existing rainwater off the drive, let alone if you are having a new surface laid.

We would advise on this for you when we come to see what you require doing, if you have a permeable surface (which lets the water through) i.e. coloured gravel, chippings, hardcore by itself, or you can have open grade tarmacadam specially made to allow a certain amount of water through.

Resurfacing a driveway is the process of putting a new layer of tarmac over the existing layer, many properties can benefit from the fact that most existing tarmac and concrete drives can be overlaid with a new wearing course which means minimal disruption and fantastic cost advantages.

Tarmacadam

Tarmacadam or tarmac as it is most commonly known can be one of the most cost effective solutions for surfacing your driveway.

Professionally installed, a tarmac driveway can be very attractive and hard wearing, available in red or black and with the extensive array of decorative stone edgings and features that are available will give your driveway a unique personal touch.

Benefit - Easy to Install

Tarmacadam driveways are easy to install as in most cases they can be laid directly onto an existing surface. In some extreme cases excavation may be required in order to create a suitable surface to lay onto but an installer would let you know prior to any decisions being made.

Colours/Designs

We install red and black tarmac surfacing in domestic and professional environments, and all work is fully guaranteed.

We only use high quality tarmac also known as bituminous macadam which is laid with the appropriate machinery to ensure a robust and durable surface that will provide many years of consistent performance without sinking or breakage.
